After following the workouts for several weeks on WYIN in the US, I decided I wanted to own the DVDs so I could have them when I travel. After a flight or long ride in the car, I really need to stretch, and these little workouts (24 min. each) feel wonderful. A side benefit is what Miranda calls "slenderizing." You do tone up, strengthen and thin out at the same time. Though I've never done Tai Chi, the controlled reaching movements remind me of T-C classes I've seen. There's lots of reaching, lunging and range of motion work, some shows have ballet barre work, and others have floor crunches and/or Pilates-like floor work. My posture has definitely improved, and it's easy to get motivated for a short workout that's productive without being gruelling.One issue I had was recurring stiff necks when I started these workouts. I realized that when I lifted my arms, I was unconsciously hunching up my shoulders, thus causing the neck pain later. If I concentrate on dropping my shoulders, I feel more work across my upper back, and don't get pain later.
