I became acquainted with this version of the Nutcracker DVD several years ago and immediately sought out my own copy. Originally published only in VHS format, it now is available in DVD format as well. Excellent puppetry, appropriate writing for the younger set, and clear story line, simplified for the young ones, make this a creative, exciting, 25-minute journey through some of the world famous orchestral Nutcracker score, beautifully recorded and presented as the musical backdrop for the mesmerizing puppetry. Humor and the winning personality of Jim Gamble, not to mention a few surprises, make this my "go to" Nutcracker video. Adults will be impressed at the quality, despite the shortened format from any of the original, full length ballet versions. Children love this!
