On June 14th, 1985 TWA flight 847 left Athens with 145 passengers and 8 crew members. Enroute to Rome, 2 armed terrorists seized the airliner and ordered it to Beirut, where it began a 2 day journey flying repeatedly between Lebanon and Algiers. During the ordeal, an American life was lost. This film portrays the first 2 days of the hijacking, focusing on the lead flight attendant's heroism in preventing further tragedy.

The Flight (The Taking of Flight 847: The Uli Derickson Story) [VHS] (1988) Review

I think this is Lindsay Wagner's finest performance. This film, known also as "The Taking of Flight 847: The Uli Derickson Story", describes the first two days of the TWA hijacking from 1985. The focus is on the heroic actions of the chief flight attendant, who Wagner plays in the movie. The performances in this film, particularly by those playing the hijackers and the crew members are first-rate. While this is not a complete look at the whole hijacking, this film examines what happened while a majority of the passengers were on board before the plane was emptied in Beirut 2 days into the hijacking. This film deserves a five-star rating because of its accuracy, its quality, and the cast's performance. It's probably the best made-for-TV movie I've seen. I highly recommend this film.
