Product Description

The people of New York City face certain death. Dr. Nora Hart has five days to save them. Kate Jackson ("Charlie's Angels") stars as Dr. Nora Hart in this shocking story that finds modern-day New York City threatened by a disease more devastating than AIDS, cancer and heart disease combined. A killer so powerful that it could destroy the city's entire population in five days--unless Dr. Hart can stop it.

Black Death Review

Not being much of an aficiando of this made-for-TV genre of disaster film, I was pleasantly surprised by this DVD, bought at a recommendation from a friend. The premise is clever and even somewhat plausible: The Black Death---alias the bubonic plague---resurfaces in the modern world in New York City. By the time the pathogen is identified, several cases have already erupted and the city's health officials are really worried that an epidemic looms on the horizon. Their efforts to find those exposed and to contain the spread of the dangerous disease are stymied by politicians afraid of the impact this "inconvenience" might have on the city's tourism. Fortunately, the infected are tracked down and the threat ended, but not before some people lose their lives. The movie has a reasonably good feel, sometimes teetering a little close to histronics, but the situations and characters seem pretty authentic. There are, of course, some cliches---the crusading doctors versus the slimy politicos, for example. Yet even these are handled well, thanks to the professionalism of the cast. Kate Jackson emotes well as Dr. Nora Hart, the point physician in the effort to quell the disease, while Jeffrey Nordling as Dr. Prescott provides solid support combined with small-town naivete. Al Waxman handles the thankless role of the mayor, bringing to this potentially cardboard role some depth. Howard Hesseman is indescribably creepy as an infected congressman who sickens his mistress and abandons her in a hospital emergency room. As the head of the city's health department, Jerry Orbach (Dr. Vincent Callafato) brings realism to the part, going from skepticism to full support of Dr. Hart's team as soon as he realizes the severity of the situation. Those who play the victims bring pathos to the movie, putting a human face on the suffering, especially Alma Martinez, who portrays a health worker who develops the illness despite preventive measures. She commits suicide, placing a sticker on herself that reads "Warning: Infectious Substance/ Biohazard". This is one of the saddest scenes in the movie. All in all, this isn't top-notch, but then it wasn't made for theater release, and certainly didn't have the budget of a big movie. These factors considered, this is a decent suspense film, quite entertaining and evoking some genuine emotions in the viewer. Good cast, good writing, reasonable production . . . overall, good entertainment and worth the time and money invested. The Big Bang Theory: Seasons 1-5 [Region 2] Review

I got my blu-ray set yesterday and with all those negative reviews I was anxious to test them out. I was worried because I had seen reviews saying that the set was pirated (bootleg) and that they would not work in anything except a region-free blu-ray player, and blah, blah, blah. THIS SET IS BRAND-NEW!!! IT IS NOT PIRATED AND IT WORKS FINE IN A U.S. REGION BLU-RAY PLAYER!!! And to be honest, my blu-ray player is at least 3 years old...and it probably hasn't been updated in a year...Whatever the blu-rays work and the picture looks great. I would highly recommend this seller (a2z Blu Ray) and this set to anyone. It was an awesome deal! $65.00 for the first 5 seasons...that easily would've been $100 if purchased separately. If I find anything wrong with it by the time I make it through my 5 season binge this weekend I'll update my review but I doubt I will find anything.

Grenadier: The Complete Collection LiteBox (Limited Edition With Figurine) Review

This series while a little to short just being about twelve episodes was still very entertaining to watch and for the price a great steal for anyone's anime collection. The series seems to try and convey the utter futility and idiocy of war which would have been o.k. but the way they do it seems a little to humorous to really believe, the series main female character tries to give the message of giving up the senseless need to wage war but is herself an amazing gunslinger herself though she tries to use her gun as a last resort and never takes a life with it. Her partner a skilled sword fighter at first finds this belief utterly stupid but along their travels starts to see the reason of her belief and starts to share in her ideal. The series while has drama also keeps it light as well so it won't become to dark in its storyline like Deathnote or the like, there is a great deal of fan service in the series which is to be expected but nothing to r-rated the one thing a lot of people well find a little funny is how our female gunslinger reloads her weapon by flinging the bullets from out her cleavage. The video is clear and sharp and the music for this series fit perfectly with the show as well, the voice cast for the Japanese subbed and English dubbed were very good for their roles so no complaints on the voice cast at all. The extras are pretty much just some added funny deleted scenes, some trailers, and a video showing the making of the series. The set is three dvds in a one dvd case hold that holds all three but it's steady enough so it's really not that big of a deal. So if you like action animes with a funny twist in them or want to get your dose of an anime of fanservice here's a pretty good one to try out....

A look inside a tragedy through the eyes of a survivor. Based on actual events, April Showers is about picking up the pieces in the direct aftermath of school violence. Set in a middle class suburban neighborhood, April Showers focuses on the lives of a handful of teachers and students as they attempt to make sense of a world that has just been turned upside down by one of their own. In the wake atrocity, the rifts caused by misinformation and a frenzied media prove difficult to overcome. Lost and lonely under the international spotlight, one young man navigates his way through his almost indiscernible home. From quaint suburban town to battlefield turned media circus, Jefferson High provides the backdrop for Sean's struggle to cope with the loss of his friend April. [US Import, NTSC Region 1]

April Showers Review

I purchased April Showers after watching the trailer online. I didn't know if it would be good or not, and believe me when I tell you that it is well worth the price. In this emotionally charged movie, Sean (Kelly Blatz) is distraught over the loss of one of his friends to a school shooting. I think everyone remembers where they were on April 20, 1999, when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold shot 12 fellow students and 1 teacher at Columbine High before killing themselves. I think the director of this movie, who survived a school shooting himself, should stop whatever he's doing right now and pat himself on the back. A fresh young cast and amazing cinematography truly make this movie the best I've ever seen.

Nuspine - Back Pain Solution (Blu Ray and DVD Included) Review

My name is Bryan, I am 59 years old, 5'-09" and 195 pounds (not all muscle) and this program was recommended to me by my 36 year old son. Having my genes and an inherited spinal condition, commonly referred to as "Swayback", he and I occasionally commiserate about back pains after a hard days work or any activity that sparks up the muscles and spinal discomfort of our backs. In my entire life, I was told my swayback was something I would have to live with and I was never told there was a way to help strengthen particular muscles, core muscles, to assist my torso and back comfort until now. My Son highly recommended the NuSpine program and asked me to just try it out because it has positively affected his back, thus his life is more pain free. I ordered the program and began on a Monday 8 weeks ago. (To date I have tried Chiropractic Treatment, stretching, pain meds, ect.,etc., and still the same old back discomforts persisted.) I decided to give this program the attention I felt my back deserved and see if I could attain similar results to my son's experiece. The program is well done and easy to follow with the Coordinator and the Demonstrators in the video giving verbal and visual directions for viewers. What I have found personally is the NuSpine Program helps me strengthen my core muscles. I also found I was experiencing a stretching of the Quadricep muscles of my legs which helped relieve lower back pain. My core muscles are feeling more firm and I am now more motivated to reduce the size of my waist which IS a major contributor to anyone's lower back pain and poor posture. I use the program to start my day, I get up, get the coffee started and follow the NuSpine planner as I continue to experience the positive benefits of a stronger core muscle group and yes less BACK PAIN! On a side note, at the risk of "Too Much Information", I additionally have experienced better bowel function since I began the NuSpine Program (aparently another positive effect of stronger core muscles). I also now have a VERY effective way to deal with back pain after a hard days work or hard play, I can utilize the learned techniques to relax my back and reduce muscle tension for a better night sleep. Thank you, to the developer of the NuSpine program, my life and my back continue to reap the benefits of this program!
